Illinois Recent Arrests is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody or release, provide or verify booking photos, or retrieve official records. Contact the agency that holds the record for an authoritative answer or copy.
Where Illinois Records Are Held
Illinois has no single statewide custodian for arrest, booking, and court records. The right office depends on which agency made the arrest, where the person was booked, and whether the question concerns current custody or a court case. A police arrest report, jail booking entry, and court filing can be held by separate offices.
- County arrest or booking: Use the County Directory to find the relevant county site. Ask the arresting police agency for its incident or arrest report; ask the receiving sheriff or jail about the booking record, booking photo, or current custody.
- Public-record request: Send the request to the agency that holds the specific record. For an Illinois State Police (ISP) report, use the ISP records-request instructions on the Illinois State Police arrests page. A statewide ISP release may identify a receiving county jail, but ISP does not run one public roster for every county booking.
- Filed case or court result: Contact the circuit clerk in the county where the case was filed. The clerk’s case record can show court filings and later outcomes; it does not confirm a person’s present jail status.
- State-prison custody: Search the official IDOC Offender Search for people currently incarcerated or on parole. Completed sentences are not displayed, and this search is not a county booking lookup.
- Federal or immigration detention: The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator covers records within BOP custody, not every federal detainee or Illinois county jail. The separate ICE Online Detainee Locator concerns immigration detention, not a state criminal-arrest record.
